Adeline (Dulas) Sonnek James, age 94, of Minnesota Lake, MN died Saturday, Feb. 1, 2020 at her home surrounded by her family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, Feb. 6, 2020 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake at 10:30 AM. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2020 from 4:00-7:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday morning. Fr. Greg Havel will officiate and burial will be in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to Faribault County Hospice.
Adeline was born November 14, 1925 the daughter of Frank and Hedwig (Klocek) Dulas on the family farm. Adeline graduated from Wells High School. She was united in marriage to David Sonnek Sept. 3, 1946 and to this union 9 children were born. After his death, she was united in marriage to Gerald "Jerry" James July 6, 1973 in Minnesota Lake. She was a cook at Minnesota Lake and Maple River District for 25 years. She was an active member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, the CCW and the American Legion Auxiliary, and a life member of the Wells VFW. She loved playing cards and Domino's and Po-Ke-No with her lady friends. She also loved gardening, canning, flowers, reading books and working puzzles.
She is survived by her children: Roger (Mavis) Sonnek of Eagle Lake, Janet Sonnek of Waseca, Janice (Jerry) Evenson of Easton, Edie (Raymond) Woitas of Albert Lea, Sue (Jerome) Behnke of Winnebago, Brad (Marcy) Sonnek of Easton, Donna (Jim) Glaser of Rochester, Dori (David) Papke of Waseca, Bernetta Wolff, friend of the family; 15 grandchildren: Christine (Randy) Pietsch, David (Cindi) Sonnek, Jeffrey Evenson, Jason (Nicole) Evenson, Justin (Jodi) Woitas, Alan (Stephanie) Woitas, Chad (Nadia) Woitas, Amanda (Jay) Zabel, Alison Behnke, Devin (Jolene) Sonnek, Samantha (Chris) Yost, Logan Sonnek, Joseph (Ellissa) Glaser, Michael Glaser, and Ryan Papke; 19 great-grandchildren: Bethany (Tyler) Miller, Alex, Rachel, Timothy, Drake, Reve, Evalee, Luke, Benjamin, Gabriel, Olivia, Hunter, Matthew, Connor, Jayden, Chase, Jared, Annie, Blake; 1 great-great-granddaughter, Ayla; brothers: Mark Dulas of West Sun City, AZ, Leon (Shirley) Dulas of Clearwater, MN and Larry (Donnette) Dulas of Wells; sister-in-law: Margaret "Sue" Robbins of Mapleton, along with many nieces, nephews and their families.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband David Sonnek (1971), son Glenn Sonnek (1974), husband Gerald James (2012), sister Marcy Staloch (2014), brother Tony (2010) (Katie) (2005)Dulas and sister-in-law, Mary Dulas (2013).
