Violet Mavis Lorraine Oppedal, age 96, of Lake Mills, IA, died Saturday, October 19, 2019 at Lake Mills Care Center. A Memorial Service will be held Tuesday, Oct. 29, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church, Eden Twp., Winnebago Co., IA. Visitation will be Monday, Oct. 28, 2019 from 4:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Pastor Bob Stover will officiate and interment will be in the church cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Bricelyn is in charge of arrangements.
Violet Mavis Lorraine was born April 1, 1923 in Winnebago Co., IA, the daughter of David and Alma (Johnson) Olson. She graduated from Kiester High School and attended Waldorf College in Forest City, IA. Violet married Einar Oppedal at Trinity Lutheran Church, March 31, 1942. She was a farm wife and mother to four children. After the kids were out of school, Violet worked at the Kiester Hardware and Viking Variety Clothing in Kiester. She was a very active member at Trinity Lutheran Church.
Violet is survived by her son Gary (Jodi) Oppedal of Hartland, MN; grandson Erik (wife Sarah) Oppedal of Blue Earth; granddaughters: Jade (husband Steve) Deuens of Hartland, and Jasmine (husband Jeff) Hanson of Minneapolis, MN; 6 great-grandchildren; many cousins, nephews, nieces and friends.
She is preceded in death by her parents; husband Einar; sons Ivan and David Oppedal, and daughter Linda Oppedal.
