Sheila Marie Schmidt, age 64, of Northfield, MN, died Friday, December 21, 2018 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield, MN. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN, with Fr. Matt Fasnacht officiating. Visitation will be Friday, December 28, 2018 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the Spring of 2019 at OLMC Catholic Cemetery in Easton, MN. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home of Wells is assisting the family.
Sheila Marie was born April 22, 1954 in Wells, MN the daughter of Louis and Marvel (Schuster) Staloch. Sheila grew up and graduated from Wells Easton High School. Sheila was united in marriage to Bryan Schmidt June 9, 1979 in Easton, MN. The couple moved to Florida in 1984 where Sheila worked at Sea World from 1985 until 1991. From 1998 until 2011, Sheila drove the Safari vehicle and gave tours at Disney Animal Kingdom. She loved animals, especially her horses. While driving the safari vehicle, her co-workers gave her the nickname "Safari Sheila" because the animals would respond to her voice when she gave tours.
Sheila is survived by her loving husband Bryan Schmidt of Northfield; father, Louis Staloch of Easton, 2 sisters, Gayle (Vern) Heise of Easton, and Margo (Terry) Latusek of Wells; 1 brother, Craig (LaRue) Staloch of Minnesota Lake, MN; mother-in-law: Gertrude Schmidt of Owatonna, MN, Bryan's siblings: Donald Jr. (Diane) Schmidt of Coleman, WI, Cindy (Joe) Stock of Washburn, WI, Annette (Doug) Kloos of Owatonna, MN, Barry (Nancy) Schmidt of Montgomery, MN, and Joel (Tracy) Schmidt of Mapleton, MN; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
Sheila is preceded in death by her mother Marvel and father-in-law Donald Schmidt.
