Richard "Rick" O'Rourke, age 71, of Northfield, MN, formerly of Minnesota Lake, MN, died Saturday, February 11, 2017 at Three Links Care Center in Northfield. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, February 16, 2017 at 10:30 AM, at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake, with Fr. Eugene Stenzel officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, February 15, 2017 from 4:00-7:00 PM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Peace Cemetery in Minnesota Lake. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family.

Rick was born November 9, 1945, in Blue Earth, MN, the son of William and Hazel (Egeness) O'Rourke. He graduated from Wells High School in 1963. As a senior he met and began dating Kay Miller. They were united in marriage September 5, 1964 in Delavan, WI. Rick worked for MnDOT for 39 years, until retirement in 2005. He enjoyed playing golf, and always looked forward to family vacations. Rick liked to stay active. His family meant everything to him, and he loved following his grandsons' activities and sporting events.

Rick is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jim, and 2 sisters: Karen Schulz and Monica "Mickey" Merlino.

He is survived by his wife Kay of Mapleton; son, Mike (wife Roxanne) O'Rourke of Mankato; grandsons: Jordan (wife Jenny) O'Rourke of Mapleton, MN and Logan O'Rourke (Michaela Hislop) of Owatonna, MN; mother-in-law, Arbutus Miller of Wells; brothers and sisters-in-law: Susan (husband Jack) Carlson of Olivia, MN, Steve Miller of Wells, MN, and Lori (husband Bob) Shure of Lake Washington, MN; and many nieces and nephews and their families.
