Michael Gene Bauer, age 69, of Mapleton, MN, died Friday, July 6, 2018 at his home. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, July 10, 2018, at 11:00 AM at Hosanna Lutheran Church, 105 Hosanna Dr., Mankato, MN, with Pr. Michael Omtvedt officiating. Visitation will be Monday, July 9, from 4 – 7 PM at the church, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Interment will be at St. John's Lutheran Cemetery in Danville Twp., Blue Earth Co., MN.

Michael Gene was born March 21, 1949 in Northfield, MN, the son of Roy and Dorothy (White) Bauer; Mike grew up in Faribault, MN. He attended trade school in Mankato where he studied Industrial Design and Engineering. He was united in marriage to Marilyn Smith January 14, 1970 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Danville Twp., Blue Earth Co., MN, and to this union 2 daughters were born. The couple later adopted their son Matt in 1978. Mike married Nenita February 27, 2016. Mike loved working in his shop. He worked with iron, and fixed, repaired and created parts as a blacksmith. Mike liked to help others, and spent time working on many special projects.

Mike is preceded in death by his parents, wife, Marilyn, and a daughter in infancy.

He is survived by his wife, Nenita of Mapleton, MN; children: Michelle (Al) Marble of Good Thunder, MN, and Matthew Bauer of Mankato, MN; grandchildren: Lauren, Jarod, and Gretchen Marble of Good Thunder, MN; siblings: August (Wanda) Bauer of Buffalo, NY, Jay Bauer of Faribault, MN, Lisa Bauer of Wells, MN, Gerald (Barb) Bauer of Faribault, Paul (Cindy) Bauer of Faribault, Nancy (Oran) Clemmensen of Faribault, Kathy Bauer of the Twin Cities, Brian Bauer of Faribault, and Mark (Sue) Bauer of Faribault; step-daughter, Denneth Relacion of Owatonna, MN; and step-grandson, Wendell Relacion of Owatonna, MN.
