Mary Catherine "Merikay" Stokman, age 85, of Minnesota Lake, MN died Monday, August 7, 2017 at Oak Terrace Assisted Living in North Mankato, MN. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 14, 2017, at 10:30 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake, MN, with Fr. Eugene Stenzel officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, August 13, 2017 from 2 – 5 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Interment will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.
Mary Catherine was born October 22, 1931, the daughter of Fred and Veronica (Forbes) Ruffing. She graduated from Wells High School in 1949. She was united in marriage to William H. Stokman December 28, 1953, and to this union 3 children were born, and the couple later divorced. She earned her Bachelor's Degree from St. Scholastica College in 1953, and later her Master's Degree from Mankato State University in 1986. Merikay worked as a Medical Records Administrator. She was a volunteer and Advisory Board member for United Hands Hospice, and was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church. She had many interest including a love of music and shopping. Merikay loved her family and friends dearly.
Merikay is survived by her children: Tod (wife Connie) Stokman of Minnesota Lake, MN, Brad (wife Alexandria) Stokman of Missoula, MT, and Ann (husband Rich) Finch of Lindstrom, MN; grandchildren: Henry (Sara) Stokman of St. Louis Park, MN, Jake Stokman of Minneapolis, MN, Otto, Elly and Adalein Stokman of Missoula, MT, and twin sisters Lauren and Marie Finch of Lindstrom, MN; sisters, Sister Thomas More of Toledo, OH, Jeanne Studelska of Dubuque, IA; brother John (wife Linda) Ruffing of St. Paul, MN.
She is preceded in death by her parents; brother Robert Ruffing.
