Marcelline Norlene Nowak Babcock, age 81, of Mankato, MN, formerly of Wells, MN, died Thursday, November 17, 2016 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, November 22, 2016 at 10:30 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Pr. Mary Iverson officiating. Visitation will be Monday, November 21 from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be at Rosehill Cemetery in Wells, MN.

Marcelline was born November 29, 1934, in Wells, the daughter of Herman and Elsie (Wilder) Akemann. She attended Wells High School. Marcy was united in marriage to Ambrose Nowak February 26, 1952 in a double wedding ceremony with her sister Darlene and Chester Pyzick at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, and to this union 8 children were born. The couple later divorced. She married Pete Babcock December 1, 1985. They were married for 19 years. Marcy was a woman of great faith, which she passed on to her children. Marcy loved to socialize, enjoyed coffee parties, and playing cards. She was an avid Twins and Vikings fan, and was the unofficial General Manager of both teams. In her later years, Marcy enjoyed bible study, watching gameshows on TV, and talking to her children and grandchildren on the phone.

She is survived by her children: Steve (Jan) Nowak of Wells, MN, Rick (Michelene) Nowak of Tucson, AZ, Bob (Julette) Nowak of Minnesota Lake, MN, Sue (Dean) Shellen of Wells, MN, Brenda (Dale) Glazier of Albert Lea, MN, Tammy (Dan) Brockhaus of Mankato, MN, Jolene (Steve) Schilling of Plymouth, MN, Amy (Jamie) Johnson of Eagle Lake, MN; special nephew and niece: Brian (Lanell) Akemann, and Lori Ann (Todd) Colby; 15 grandchildren, and 22 great-grandchildren; siblings: Alvin (Mary) Akemann, and Darlene Pyzick; many nieces, nephews and their families.

She is preceded in death by her parents; husbands: Ambrose Nowak and Merlyn "Pete" Babcock; 7 siblings: Clarence, Evelyn, LeRoy "Bud", Romaine, Shirley, JoAnne, and Keith.
