Loretta Delores Brandt, age 99, of Minnesota Lake, MN died Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Parkview Care Center. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 30, 2017 at 11:00 AM at St. Paul's UCC in rural Minnesota Lake with Rev. Cherie Daniel officiating. Visitation will be Saturday from
9:00 – 11:00 AM, prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at St. Paul's UCC Cemetery.
Loretta Delores was born on a farm May 14, 1918 in Hayward, MN, the daughter of Fred and Emma (Beuthien) Brandt. She lived there for 13 years along with her 10 siblings, namely 5 brothers and 5 sisters. She was baptized and confirmed at St. John's Lutheran Church in Austin, MN. She later moved to Manchester and Freeborn, MN. Loretta and her sister Edna moved to Wells together, and cleaned houses and worked at Mallons.
On February 12, 1942 she was united in marriage to Erich Brandt at St. Paul's United Church of Christ, Minnesota Lake Township, where she remained a faithful member. Erich and Loretta were both coincidentally Brandts, but were not related prior to their marriage. Erich and Loretta were blessed with 3 children: Reva, Rhonda, and Randy. Loretta was not only a housewife, but taught Sunday school and attended church. She was also a quilter, sewer, and crafter. Loretta worked seasonal jobs at the Del Monte canning factory. She enjoyed going old-time dancing with her husband, Erich. She was an avid card-player, up to her last days. Loretta had played in many tournaments, and but so loved passing the time with all of her family members while playing cards.
Loretta is survived by her children: Reva Prange of Wells, MN, Rhonda Brandt of Wells, MN, and Randy (Kathy) Brandt of New Brighton; 4 grandchildren: Lisa (Francis John) Cain of Wells, MN, Loren (Becky) Prange of Minnesota Lake, MN, Linda (Joe) Moravec of Le Center, MN, Les (Amy) Prange of Wells, MN; 3 great-grandchildren: Calob, Conner and Riley Prange of Wells; 2 step-great-grandchildren: Ashton Cain of Wells, and Ashley Cain of Ringsted, IA; and step-great-great-grandchild, Jaxyn Spoon of Ringsted, IA; sisters-in-law: Alberta "Bert" Brandt of Albert Lea, MN, and Helen Brandt of Hayward, MN. Along with 41 nieces and nephews and their families.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Erich; 5 brothers: Leonard, Walter, Helmer, Edmond, and Ray; 5 sisters: Bertha, Audrey, Elva, Edna, and LaVonna; and son-in-law James Prange in 2007
