Lawrence John Majeski, age 89, of Wells, MN died Monday, August 14, 2017 at Methodist Hospital in Rochester, MN. A funeral service will be held Thursday, August 17, 2017, at 11:00 AM at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, with Pr. Mary Iverson officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, August 16, 2017 from 4 – 7 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Interment will take place at Rosehill Cemetery, and Military Honors will be accorded by the Wells Color Guard.
Lawrence John was born July 1, 1928, in Kalama, WA, the son of Joseph and Edna (Mayo) Majeski. He graduated from Kalama High School in 1948. Larry honorably served our country in the United States Navy. He was united in marriage to Mary Rath, and to this union 8 children were born. The couple later divorced. He was united in marriage to Ruth Jepson on December 30, 1988. Larry was a farmer, zoning inspector, and also worked for Gering Industries, ConAgra and Swift. Larry was very active in his community as a volunteer for the Wells Ambulance, a USC crossing guard, Boy Scout leader, 4th Degree Knights of Columbus, Kernels Days flea market coordinator, OLMC basketball coach, OLMC custodian, and a tornado spotter. Larry was also a member of the Campfire Board, Wells Lions, Wells American Legion and VFW, Easton American Legion and Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. He enjoyed woodworking and carpentry but loved fishing and camping. He had a small business, Red Barn Crafts, selling the beautiful things he had built.
Larry is survived by his wife, Ruth of Wells; children: Amy (Bob) Woods of Casa Grande, AZ, Sue (Bob) Summer of Roseau, MN, Jim (Jean) Majeski of Waldorf, MN, Bea (Kevin) Salisbury of Winona, MN, Mark (Janice) Majeski of Prairieville, LA, Joel (Julia) Majeski of Bonners Ferry, ID, Sara (Tim) Ramaker of Tybee Island, GA, and Neil Majeski of Amboy, MN; Ruth's children: Lisa Johnson of Albert Lea, MN, Doug (Lana) Schroeder of Alden, MN, Blaine Schroeder of Albert Lea, MN, Troy (Amy) Jensen of Mapleton, MN, and Chad Jensen (special friend Misty Spilde) of Wells, MN; 37 grandchildren, and 28 great-grandchildren; sister, Mona Shotswell of Vancouver, WA and many nieces, nephews, and their families as well as a special neighbor, Jeff.
He is preceded in death by his parents, and grandson, Bradley Majeski.
