Judy Lee Thorson, age 79, of Bricelyn, MN, passed away Saturday, October 26, 2019 at her home in Bricelyn, surrounded by her family, due to complications of endocarditis. A funeral service will be held Saturday, November 2, 2019 at 2:00 PM at Bricelyn Lutheran Church in Bricelyn, MN, with Pastor Arne Halbakken officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Bricelyn, MN. Judy Lee Thorson was born March 25, 1940 at her parents home in Seely Twp., Faribault Co., MN, the daughter of Clifford and Christine (Walle) Jacobson. She was a lifelong resident of Bricelyn. Judy was confirmed May 26, 1955 at Bricelyn Lutheran Church and graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1958. After highs school she traveled to Wisconsin, Wyoming Nebraska and Missouri where she was employed as a nanny and domestic help. She made frequent trips home to Bricelyn to help her mother care for her ailing father. Judy was united in marriage on June 4, 1966 to LaVerne E. Thorson at Bricelyn Lutheran Church. A devoted wife, mother and daughter, Judy's main occupation was as a homemaker, caring for her family. Judy enjoyed neighborhood and church activities. A cowgirl at heart, she was always a fan of John Wayne, Gunsmoke, country music and the like. She preferred a simple button down shirt with pockets and jeans any day. She also loved being outside, and gardening remained a lifelong hobby.
Judy is preceded in death by her parents; husband LaVerne; brother Jerome.
She is survived by son Eric (Cassandra) Thorson; daughter Kathleen Thorson; grandson LaVerne Thorson, all of Bricelyn; granddaughters: Melissa (Bill) Struck of LeSeuer, MN, Morgan Foley of Minnesota Lake, MN, and Melanie (Derek) Dreier of Sparta, WI; and soon to be 6 great-grandchildren.
