Joseph Aloysius Trio, age 83, of Mankato, MN, died Sunday, February 25, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, March 3, 2018, at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church in Easton, MN. Visitation will be Friday, March 2, from 4 – 7 PM at Our Lady of Mount Carmel in Easton, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Cemetery in Easton, MN.

Joseph Aloysius was born May 25, 1934 in Mankato, MN, the son of Peter and Lucy (Goettl) Trio. He grew up on a farm in rural Mapleton with his twin sister and 3 brothers. With all the responsibilities of farm life, he left school in the 8th grade to work full time on the farm. He met and was united in marriage to Joanne Wittrock August 16, 1956, and to this union 7 amazing children were born, who he taught to help with all aspects of farm life. After the passing of his wife Joanne, he met and was united in marriage to Darlene Warmka March 5, 1981 in Easton, adding 3 more amazing children to the family. He remained a farmer in his heart his whole life, and had a very creative mind when it came to finding solutions to the changing environment of farming. His children enjoyed his gentle, kind nature, and his larger than life presence. He had a wit and a sense of humor that was appreciated by all. Joe was a master woodworker, and created many beautiful things for his family and friends throughout the years. He loved fishing and spending time with his many grandchildren.

Joseph is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Joanne; brothers, Denny and Charlie, and twin sister, Joan; 2 grandsons: David Schrader, and Jack Schroeder.

He is survived by his wife, Darlene of Mankato, MN; children: Marie Schrader (fiancé Steve Sullivan) of Easton, MN, Donna (Mark) Sonnek of Easton, MN, Janet (Jeff) Phillips of Ocean City, MD, Sharon (Randy) Kroenke of Mankato, MN, Mary (Bruce) Woitas of Sleepy Eye, MN, Thomas (Deb) Trio of Easton, MN, and Gary (Deb) Trio of Mapleton, MN; step-children: Mark (Kate) Warmka of Easton, MN, Connie (Todd) Dageford of Hastings, MN, and Amy (Brian) Schroeder of Maple Grove, MN; 31 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren; brother, August (Eileen) Trio of Mapleton, MN; sister-in-law Vera Trio, and brother-in-law, LaVern Goettl.
