Helen Marie Minks, age 85, of Minnesota Lake, MN, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at Mayo Clinic Health System in Mankato, MN. A memorial service will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2018, at 10:30 AM at Peace United Church of Christ in Minnesota Lake, with Pr. Joy Bruder officiating. Visitation will be Monday, January 29, from 4:30 – 7:00 PM at Peace UCC, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Interment will be held at a later date.

Helen Marie was born December 19, 1932 in Washington, the daughter of Robert and Maxine (Gager) Burns. She graduated from Onaway, MI, and then joined the US Airforce. She served for 4 years in Germany and the United States. She was united in marriage to Henry E. Minks December 19, 1953 in Ramstein AFB, Germany. After their military service, Helen worked alongside Henry at Minks Insurance until her retirement. She was Past President of Minnesota Association of Farm Mutual Insurance Companies Auxiliary, and a member of the Minnesota Lake American Legion Auxiliary. She was an avid golfer, and also enjoyed painting, drawing, crafts, the Make It Club, watching sports (especially the Minnesota Vikings) and spending time with her family and friends.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Henry Minks; parents; sister, Mary Ranfranz; brothers-in-law: Dave Anderson, and Eldren Minks, and sister-in-law Nancy Minks

She is survived by her children: Paula (Jeff) Amy, and William (Becki) Minks; grandchildren: Chelsea Floren (special friend Luke), Baylee (Matt) Pawsey, Cole (Karissa) Minks, Clark Minks (special friend Cody); great-grandchildren: Peyton and Jaxson Floren; siblings: Jeanne (Don) Mock, Katie Anderson, Greg (Mary) Burns, and Patty (Ben) Benda; sister-in-law Doris (Hod) Bolinger; and many nieces, nephews, and their families.
