Geneva Elaine Bruegger, age 89, of Minnesota Lake, died Tuesday, March 31, 2015 at the Mapleton Community Home surrounded by loved ones. A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, April 4, 2015 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul's United Church of Christ in rural Minnesota Lake. Visitation will be Friday, April 3, 2015 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM, at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be in the church cemetery, and Rev. Cherie Daniel will officiate. Memorials are preferred to the donor's choice.
Geneva was born October 9, 1925, the daughter of Emil and Ella (Schinke) Roessler in Danville Township, Blue Earth County, MN. Geneva was united in marriage to Melvin C. Bruegger, August 22, 1946 at the Evangelical Church of Peace in Minnesota Lake. She enjoyed bird watching, playing cards and Bingo. Geneva especially enjoyed and cherished spending time with her family.
Geneva is survived by her children: Eileen (Roger) Flohrs, Lois (Ron) Cole, Larry (Margo) Bruegger, Kathryn Ottjes, Ronald (Susan) Bruegger, Richard Bruegger, Bradley (Cheryl) Bruegger, Janelle (Craig) Schultz, Emily (Terry) Mills, Julette (Bob) Nowak, Kevin Bruegger, Beverly (Steve) Underdahl, Merrilee Bruegger; 35 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren; "adopted" son: Doug Strehlo (fiancé Mary Jo); sister-in-law: Donna Roessler; 2 brothers: Morris (Judy) Roessler and Curtis (Andrea) Roessler; brother-in-law: Cleon Christenson; along with family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Melvin in 1987; infant son; granddaughters: Chrissa Bruegger, Whitney Bruegger; grandson, Jason Schultz; daughter-in-law: Cindy Bruegger; son-in-law, E. Alan Ottjes; siblings: Lila (Karl) Beyer, Alice (Marvin) Schultz, Anita (Robert) Johnson; John Roessler; and one brother in infancy.
