Everett Leland, 87, died Friday, Nov. 8, 2019 at his home in Bricelyn, MN surrounded by his family. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, Nov. 16, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Bricelyn Lutheran Church, with Pastor Bob Stover officiating. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Burial will be in the Bricelyn Lutheran Cemetery in Seely Twp., Faribault Co., MN, with Military Honors by the Bricelyn American Legion Post. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home is assisting the family.
Everett was born July 6, 1932 a son, and one of 7 children born to Leon B. and Alice (Mortvedt) Leland in Bricleyn, MN. Everett grew up and attended Bricelyn country school and graduated from Bricelyn High School, the class of 1951. He served in the United States Army for 2 years in Germany during the Korean War. Everett was united in marriage to Sarah "Sally" Start, September 7, 1962. He was employed at Streater Industries in Albert Lea for 35 years and farmed in rural Bricelyn and also worked for area farmers for 15 years. He was a life-long member of Bricelyn Lutheran Church, and an active member of the Bricelyn American Legion.
He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Sally Leland of Bricelyn, 2 children: Michael Leland of Ocean Springs, Mississippi and Susan (husband John) Vee of Wells; 5 Grandchildren: Jennifer (Chad) Chirpich and Jessica Leland, all of Mankato; Andrea (Eric) Treptow of LaVergne, TN, Sara (Rich) Meekhof of Tea, SD, Alissa (Aric) Bauman of Chatfield, MN; 9 great-grandchildren: Jacob Chirpich; Kelsey and Emily Leland; John, Matthew and Cooper Treptow; Sydnee and Roman Meekhof; and Baron Bauman; 2 sisters: Valoris Johnson of Red Wing, MN, and Loleen Anderson of Rapid City, SD; along with many nieces and nephews and their families.
Everett was preceded in death by his parents, siblings: Shirley Franke, Beulah Gilbertson, Leon Leland, Jr., and Donna Crotty.
