Ervin Christian Hollund, age 78, of Faribault, MN, was called to God Thursday, January 23, 2020 peacefully from the Homestead Hospice in Owatonna, MN, surrounded by his loving family. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at 10:30 AM at St. Casimir Catholic Church in Wells, MN. Visitation will be from 8:30-10:30 AM prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.
Ervin was born January 8, 1942 in Albert Lea, MN, the son of Marvin and Theresa (Weber) Hollund. Ervin graduated from Wells High School in 1959, and married his high school sweetheart Donna Meyer on June 17, 1961. They were blessed with 7 children and lived on a farm near Wells. Ervin farmed for 22 years, raised hogs and worked at the Wells Farmers Elevator. The couple moved into Wells and operated "Wells Deluxe Pizza" for many years, as well as "D & E Distributing", a vinyl window company. Ervin and Donna went to technical college in Albert Lea and earned their degrees, which landed both of them careers at Malt-O-Meal. Ervin was in research and development, and at age 67 retired from the company. He met many friends and had many experiences while employed there. Ervin enjoyed motorcycles, traveling, camping, spending time with family, and especially the love of this life, Donna; they were never apart. He also loved his dog Zoe. Ervin was a longtime member of St. Casimir Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister, and a befriender's ministry through Divine Mercy. He was a member of the Viking Car Club in Wells and served on the Walnut Lake Township Board for many years. He was a longtime fan of country and western music, attending many concerts; he was there the day the music died.
Ervin will be missed by his loving wife Donna of Faribault; children: Chris Hollund (Lisa K. Stenzel) of Faribault, MN, Lisa (Bob) Dulas of Blue Earth, MN, Wanda (Patrick) Hull of Eagle Lake, MN, Laura Callahan of Faribault, MN, David (Kim) Hollund of Montgomery, MN, and Amanda Hollund (James Wagner) of Kenyon, MN; daughter-in-law Donna Stenzel; grandchildren: Tabatha, Christopher, Faith (Cory), Dana (Izzy) and Shawn; Gabrielle and Cloe; Joshua, Matthew (Amelié) and Adrianna (Austin) ; Andrew (Abby) , Nicole (Logan) and Jonathan; Jacob (Nicole) ; Jennifer; Gavin and Brayden; Madrox, Autumn and Arianna; 14 great-grandchildren; siblings: Richard (Betty) Hollund of Wells, MN, Gary (Pat) Hollund of Austin, MN, Diane (Steve) Whitney of St. James, MN, Dan Hollund (Deb Moe) of Alden, MN; sister-in-law Joan (Jim) Pannkuk of Faribault, MN; brother-in-law Ken (Deb) Meyer of Faribault, MN; aunts: Adeline Schrieber of Wells, MN, Pauline Ray and Alice Wilaby, both of Mankato, MN; uncle Jim Weber of Wells, MN; many nieces and nephews.
Ervin was preceded in death by his parents: Marvin and Theresa Hollund and William and Mary Ann Meyer; son Dennis Hollund; granddaughter Samantha Hollund; son-in-law Donnie Meyer; many aunts and uncles.
