Elaine Alice Bidne, age 94, of Kiester, MN died Monday, December 2, 2019 at Good Samaritan Society in Albert Lea, MN. A funeral service will be held Saturday, December 7, 2019 at 11:00 AM at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Kiester, MN with Pr. Bob Stover officiating. Visitation will be held Friday, December 6, 2019 from 3:00-6:00 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Interment will be at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery.
Elaine Alice was born August 5, 1925 to Arthur and Ethel (Sydow) Sahr in rural Brush Creek Township. On November 26, 1925 she was baptized and later confirmed at Rice Lake Evangelical Church April 17, 1938. Elaine attended rural school in District #78 and attended 9-12 at Bricelyn High School, graduating in 1942. Elaine went to Teacher's Training for a year in Blue Earth, MN. She taught in rural schools for 4 years. On December 20, 1946 she was united in marriage to Calmer Bidne at the Brush Creek Evangelical Church. Elaine was a devoted wife and mother. She was a member of the E.L.C.A. women's group and circles, where she held offices in each. Elaine was a member of the Kiester P.T. A. and Trinity Lutheran Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Calmer Bidne; granddaughter Jennifer Bidne; brothers: Keith and Wayne Sahr; sisters: Verle Knapton and Milda Steckelberg.
Elaine is survived by her children: Sharon (James) Springborg of Rochester, MN, Rev. Allen (Alice) Bidne ofWaverly, IA, Loren (Joan) Bidne of Kiester, MN, Steven Bidne of Kiester, MN, Kevin (Cindy) Bidne of Fertile, IA; grandchildren: Laura (Bill) Unverzagt, Sara Schwie, Janelle (Kevin) Van Sloun , Rev. Dr. Jeanette (Rev. Dan Foster) Bidne, Matthew (Sarah) Bidne, Michael (Laura) Bidne and Mark (Erin) Bidne; 11 great-grandchildren: Ean, Allison and Emily Unverzagt, Conner and Allen Bidne, Thomas and Julia Bidne, Brielle and Bailey Bidne, Gavin and Trajen Bautista; many nieces, nephews and their families.
