Donald Lium, age 77, of Bricelyn, MN, died Monday, September 24th, 2018 at his home in Bricelyn. A funeral service will be held Monday, October 1, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Bethany Lutheran Church in rural Frost. Visitation will be held Sunday Sept. 30th, 2018 from 2-4 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn and will continue one hour prior to the service. Pr. Arne Halbakken will be officiating and burial will be at the church cemetery with Military Honors accorded by the Bricelyn Color Guard. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Bricelyn is assisting the family.
Donald LeRoy was born February 9, 1941 at home in Seely Township, the son of Melvin and Violet (Brigger) Lium. He graduated from Bricelyn High School in 1959 and Austin Vo-tech in 1961. Don honorably served our country in the Army National Guard from Dec 11, 1964 until Dec 11, 1970. Donald worked at the Standard station in Bricelyn from 1961-1964. He then moved on to work Bricelyn Canning Factory in 1965, Bricelyn Creamy from 1965-1971 and Winnebago Industries 1971-1974. On January 1, 1975 he became the proud owner of Don's Standard in Bricelyn where he stayed until his retirement in 2004. He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Beverly Reinlasoder December 18, 1966 in Walters. They were blessed with two children, Robert and DeAnn. Don and Bev enjoyed many family vacations up north and camping adventures in the local area. The most important criteria that it was on a good fishing lake!! For fun Don enjoyed coffee with the boys at Bud's, trap shooting, hunting, fishing, family gatherings, giving someone a little grief and making you smile!! And he especially enjoyed being with his grandsons. For over 50 years, Don was a Fire Arms Safety Instructor in Bricelyn. He had been a member of the Bricelyn Fire and Rescue, The Bricelyn American Legion, and Bethany Lutheran Church.
Don is survived by his children: Bob and Laura Lium of Otsego, MN, Pierre and Dee Stencel of Mn Lake; 2 grandsons, Cole Stencel (Megan Keane) of Milwaukee, WI and Trevor Stencel of MN Lake; sisters-in-law: Jean Lium of Swea City, Iowa and Betty Lium of Fairmont; Beverly's siblings: Monica and Randy Steinhauer of Walters, David Stizman of Kiester and Larry and Diane Reinlasoder of Walters, along with many nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
His is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Bev (1997), brothers: Arden and Marlin; sister Arlet; brothers-in –law: LaWayne Woodwick and Harold Christensen; and sister-in-law Nancy Sitzman.
