Dennis Milton Rossell, age 83 of Waldorf, MN, died Tuesday, January 22, 2019 at Augustana Care Center in Hastings, MN. A memorial service will be held Thursday, Jan. 31, 2019 at 2:00 PM at the Waldorf Community Center in Waldorf, MN. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2019 at the Waldorf Community Center from 4:00-7:00 PM, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Thursday. Military Honors will be accorded by the Waldorf American Legion Post. Interment will be in Medo Lutheran Cemetery, Medo Township, Blue Earth Co., at a later date. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family.
Dennis was born February 4, 1935 in Atwater, MN (Kandiyohi County), the son of Milton and Ebba (Strandberg) Rossell. While in the United States Army, stationed in Japan, Dennis met Masako Miya and was united in marriage to her July 23, 1957. After his honorable discharge, Dennis attended the University of Minnesota and attained a degree in Ag Education. Dennis and Masako came to Waldorf in 1961 and were very involved in the community. Dennis taught Ag Education, and was an FFA instructor in the Waldorf Pemberton High School for over 32 years. He received many FFA achievement awards through the years. Dennis enjoyed emceeing Farm Fest tractor pulls with his friend George Doyle. After his retirement from teaching, he worked for various Ag retail companies and helped the local farmers with harvest. Dennis loved to hunt and fish.
Dennis is survived by a Special Friend, Ursula Juliar of Mapleton, MN; two children, Duaine "Howie" Rossell (Kris Sampson) and Debra Sonnek, both of Prescott, WI ; 8 grandchildren: Brandon Rossell of Cottage Grove, MN, Bridget (Don) Baumberger of Fridley, Melissa (Andy) Joslyn of Hastings, Jared (Michael) Mendoza of Inver Grove Heights, Jamie Rathai of Buffalo, Chelsey (Brad) Van Eyll of Waconia, Chase Rossell (Kait Connelly) of Waconia, Jordyn Gallup (Matthew Pranke) of Inver Grove Heights; 5 great-grandchildren: Hayley Rossell, Kaden Smith, Miya Baumberger, Hendrix Van Eyll, Miles Rathai; sister-in-law: Doris Rossell of Duluth, MN; Ursula Juliar's family of Mapleton, MN; Kris Sampson's son, Parker; 4 nephews and 1 niece and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, loving wife Masako, daughter Dianne Pletcher; 2 brothers, Eugene Pearson and Leonard Rossell.
