David Martin Voss, age 87, of Mankato and formerly of Easton and Minnesota Lake, MN, died Sunday, December 17, 2017 at Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN. A memorial mass will be held Tuesday, December 26, 2017, at 11:00 am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Minnesota Lake, MN with visitation from 9am -11am at the church.

David Martin Voss was born June 6, 1930 the son of Henry and Anna (Zimny) Voss in Minnesota Lake. He graduated as salutatorian of his high school class from Minnesota Lake. David worked with his father on the farm for several years, during which time he suffered a broken back when a bailer fell on him. This injury caused him to be hospitalized for nearly 6 months. Two months after discharge from the hospital he was drafted into the U. S. Army. He started basic training, but was eventually given an honorable medical discharge due to his back injury before seeing active duty. He was a lifetime member of the American Legion.

He married Carol Stevermer on September 6, 1955 in Easton, MN. To this union were born 5 children: Steven Voss of Shoreview, MN; Sue (Tony) Haugh of Easton, MN; Juliann Berens of San Diego, CA; Barb (Tim) Pylka of Prior Lake, MN; and Brian (Terry) Voss of Waseca, MN.

David is survived by his 5 children; 11 grandchildren: Jared Voss, Jeremy (Melissa) Haugh, Amanda (Brendan) Bark, Brandon (Emily) Haugh, Rebecca Berens (fiancé Jesse Brennan), David Berens, Eric (Shayla) Braunshausen, Alan (Lacey) Bruanshausen, Kelly (Luke) Meyers, Michelle (Tanner) McDaniel, and Amy Voss; 13 great-grandchildren; one sister, Doris Weber.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Carol and sister, MaryAnn Chirpich.

David's family would like to extend sincere thanks to the exceptional staff at Pathstone who cared for him over the past 4.5 years.

His family will fondly remember his devotion to faith and family, quick wit, love of card games, and his homemade cherry cheesecake. Peace can be found knowing that David is now reunited with the love of his life.
