Heart Emblem

Clifford Ordean Buendorf, age 84, formerly of Walters, MN died September 16, 2019 at St. John's Campus - The Woodlands, Albert Lea, MN. The funeral service will be 11 AM Saturday, September 21, 2019 at United Lutheran Church, Walters, MN with Pastor Don Rose officiating. Visitation is 10 AM Saturday at Church until the service. Interment will be at Rice Lake Cemetery in Foster Twp., Faribault Co., MN. Arrangements by Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, MN.

Clifford was born April 20, 1935 in Alden Twp., Freeborn Co., MN to Carma (Monson) and Henry Buendorf. He was united in marriage to Vernita A. Janzig October 15, 1959 in Wells at the First Evangelical Lutheran Church. He was a lifelong member of the church in Walters. Clifford joined his father in farming and eventually farmed with his sons. He and Vernita lived and raised their three boys on the farm. In the later years he welcomed his grandchildren into the home and loved to hold them as infants. When he wasn't farming or tending the animals, Clifford enjoyed many simple pleasures; his wife's fabulous baking, a good rack of BBQ ribs, a game of Sheepshead with family & friends, and coffee at Goemann's Station. He never passed up a chance to go fishing and certainly had the patience for it. Clifford could polka with the best and especially enjoyed dancing with Vernita. He often spent Sunday afternoons tapping his foot to polka music and he seldom missed "Bandwagon". Clifford will be remembered for his signature bib overalls, his quiet and calm demeanor, the twinkle in his eye when he smiled, and his steadfast faith. He was loved by many and will be dearly missed as a father, grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.
Clifford is survived by 3 sons: Clyde Buendorf (Diane Heaney) of Albert Lea, MN, David (Carol) Buendorf of Maple Grove, MN, Dale (Paula) Buendorf of Walters, MN; 6 grandchildren, Claire Buendorf (Taylor Duncan), Jack Buendorf, Payton Buendorf, Lauren Buendorf, Mason Buendorf, Henry Buendorf; sisters, Clarine (Larry) Elvebak of Blue Earth, MN, Mary Speener of Cottage Grove, MN; brother Dan (Sandra) Buendorf of St. Peter, MN; sister-in-law Karen Jensen of Albert Lea, MN; brothers-in-law Jerry (Lori) Janzig of Alden, MN, Jonathan (Tami) Janzig of Wells, MN and many nieces and nephews and their families.
