Betty Lou Jean Schirmer, 93, died Sunday, September 30, 2018 at Mapleton Community Home. A funeral service will be held Friday, October 5, 2018 at 10:30 AM at St. Paul UCC Church, Minnesota Lake Twp., Faribault Co., MN. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Friday, with Pr. Joy Bruder officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home is assisting the family. Betty Lou was born in Dixon, Illinois, December 24, 1924 the daughter of Louis and Bertha (Alschlager) Schubbe. Betty grew up in the Mapleton area. She married Harold Schirmer October 29, 1941 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Mapleton, MN. Betty and Harold raised their family on a farm south of Minnesota Lake. Betty was a house wife, member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Women's Guild. She enjoyed playing cards and dancing with Harold, they never missed a celebration when it came to dancing.
Betty is survived by her daughter Diane (Richard) Staloch of Minnesota Lake, MN; grandchildren: Leslie Nelson of Albert Lea, MN, Chris (Amy) Staloch of Blooming Prairie, MN, Casey (Jenny) Staloch of Albert Lea, MN, Colby (Lindsey) Staloch of Mankato, MN, Jodie (Bruce) Drager of Mankato, MN, and Darin (Cathi) Schirmer of Minnesota Lake; 14 great-grandchildren; daughter-in-law: Cathy Pluym of Mapleton, MN.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 2009, son Duane in 1987 and brother Lyle (Erma) Schubbe.
