Bernice Katherine Garvick, age 90, of Kiester, MN died Thursday, May 25, 2017, at Lake Mills Care Center in Lake Mills, IA. A funeral service will be held Friday, June 2, 2017 at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Kiester at 2:00 PM, officiated by Pastor Katie Pals. Visitation will be Thursday, June 1, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 PM at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Kiester, and will continue one hour prior to the service on Friday. Interment will be at Our Savior's Lutheran Cemetery in Kiester.
Bernice was born November 1, 1926 in Mansfield, MN, the daughter of William and Emma (Paul) Seedorf. She married Henry "Hank" Garvick on March 8, 1947. Bernice was a Gold Star Mother, and was proud of her son, Daryl's service in Vietnam. She was a loving homemaker, and an excellent cook. She enjoyed sewing and needlework. Bernice was a faithful and active member of Our Savior's Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday school and was involved in quilting groups. Bernice loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was always interested in what was going on in their lives.
Bernice is survived by her children: Darlene "Dolly" Gregor of Lake Mills, IA, and Dale (Janet) Garvick of Kiester; grandchildren: Jeff Miller (Dorie Paulus) of Joice, IA, Julie (Shawn) Helgeson of Lake Mills, IA, Holly (Daniel) Germscheid, Jill Garvick of Le Center, MN, and Jason (Amanda) Garvick of Kiester, MN; step-grandchildren: Cory (Emilie) Gregor, and Dallas (Karin) Gregor of Des Moines, IA, and Andy Gregor of Lake Mills, IA; eight great-grandchildren: Jaci Miller, Tyler, Karli, Carter Helgeson, Brendan, Emma, and Jackson Germscheid, and Aiden Garvick; four step-great-grandchildren: Gaven and Graysen Gregor, and Lucas and Vivian Gregor.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hank; son, Daryl; son-in-law, Bruce Gregor; one grandson in infancy, and granddaughter, Carla Mae; brothers: Floyd and Alfred Seedorf; sisters: Tina Mueller, Birdella Wegner, and Evelyn Iverson; brothers-in-law: George, Marvin, Morris, Milford, Richard, Lars, and Junior; sisters-in-law: Ida, Anna, and Lillian; and many other relatives and friends.
