Barbara Marie Blackstad, age 76, of Minnesota Lake, MN died Sunday, August 20, 2017 at Pathstone Living in Mankato, MN. A memorial service will be held Friday, August 25, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Peace United Church of Christ in Minnesota Lake with Rev. Cherie Daniel officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 24 from 5 – 7 PM at Peace UCC in Minnesota Lake, and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Interment will be at Peace UCC Cemetery.
Barbara Marie was born August 5, 1941 in Mankato, MN, the daughter of Paul and Phyllis (Jacobson) Tatman. She was united in marriage to Richard Blackstad on January 11, 1965. Barbara enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. She was known to spend many hours playing games, cooking, watching sporting events, and watching movies with her grandkids. In her younger years, Barb enjoyed bowling, playing card club with friends, and spending time with her family. Barb also volunteered for many years on church council and served as Sunday School leader for many years. This was a reflection of the strong faith she displayed during her life. She also had the pleasure of being a foster mother for numerous children over the years.
She was a loving soul and always provided love and laughter to anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her. She will be greatly missed by all.
Barb is survived by her husband Richard Blackstad of Minnesota Lake; sons: Kevin (Lisa Schroeder) Blackstad of Rake, IA, Jeff Blackstad of Minnesota Lake, and Rick (Angie) Blackstad of North Mankato; grandchildren: Meagan Blackstad of Estherville, IA, Collin Blackstad, Cortney (Juan) Barbosa of Rake, IA, Gibson and Denim Blackstad of North Mankato; numerous great-grandchildren; and brother, Jim Tatman of Las Vegas, NV.
She is preceded in death by her parents; son, Brian; and her siblings: Gary Tatman, Robert "Butch" Tatman, and Marcia Zoellmer.
