Adrian August Jacobsen, age 78, of Minnesota Lake, MN died Friday, June 30, 2017 at his home, surrounded by family. A memorial service will be held Monday, July 10, 2017 at 11:00 AM at Open Doors United Methodist Church in Wells, MN, with Pr. Paul Woolverton officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, July 9, 2017 from 2-5 PM at Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells, and continue one hour prior to the service on Monday. Interment will be at Oak Grove Cemetery in Minnesota Lake. Adrian's family prefers memorials to Hospice, KJLY, Open Doors United Methodist Church or to the Donor's choice. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family.
Adrian was born October 6, 1938, in Minnesota Lake, MN, the son of August and Loretta (Brandt) Jacobsen. He graduated from Minnesota Lake High School in 1957. He was united in marriage to Mary Roberts April 12th, 1958 in Wells. Adrian was a painter for his entire life, first with his father for 11 years, and then later employed by Streaters Store Fixtures for 27 years.
Adrian was a quiet, gentle man who always saw good in others and appreciated their talents, but was modest of his own. Adrian's priority was his family, who he would always put first. He enjoyed spending time with all his friends and family.
He served his community well by volunteering for the Fire Department for 30 years. He was a member of the Garden Club, a driver for meals on wheels, and did volunteer projects at the Kremer House.
Adrian's famous words of farewell were, "See you round, like a doughnut!"
Adrian is survived by his wife Mary of Minnesota Lake, MN; children: Nairda Leiferman of Rochester, MN, and Nathan (Lori) Jacobsen of Jackson, MN; grandchildren: Blaise (Dustene) Jacobsen of Jackson, MN, Brady Jacobsen of Sioux Falls, SD, Brittany Leiferman of Lahaina, HI, and Bryce Leiferman of Kasson, MN; 2 great-grandchildren: Gavin and Harper Jacobsen of Jackson, MN; siblings: Mavis (Francis) Cain of Wells, MN, Carol (Ronald) Oltman of Fairmont, MN, Joyce Leonard of Mankato, MN, August (Geri) Jacobsen Jr., of Fountain Valley, CA, Bonnie (Mark) Elmer of Lakefield, MN, Bill Jacobsen of Charleston, NC, Susan (Jeff) Braun of Wells, MN, Robert (Carol) Jacobsen of Minnesota Lake, MN and Betty (Rupert) Jones of Poway, CA.
He is preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters: Marjorie Smith, Annette Karge, and 1 in infancy; brother, Willard "Smokey" Jacobsen.
