Marie Margaret Groskreutz Obituary

Marie Margaret Groskreutz, age 91, of Mankato, MN, died Sunday, April 28, 2019 at New Perspective Senior Living in Mankato, MN. A funeral service will be held Thursday, May 2, 2019, at 2:00 PM at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf, MN with Pr. Michael Mathews officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00-2:00 PM at the church on Thursday. Interment will be at First Lutheran Cemetery in Waldorf. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family.

Marie Margaret was born November 27, 1927 in Walnut Lake Township, Faribault County, MN, the daughter of Floyd and Julia (Crowell) Harper. She graduated from Wells High School in 1945. She was united in marriage to Milton Groskreutz May 8, 1947 in Wells, MN. Marie played the cello in high school and was proud that she could type for Lutheran Braille Workers. She was a faithful member of First Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School, Confirmation classes and Vacation Bible School and was a lifelong active member of Ladies Aide. Marie loved to tend to her big gardens and enjoyed being a farmer's wife while raising five children. She was also a 4-H leader when her kids were young.

Marie is preceded in death by her parents, husband Milton Groskreutz, brothers-in-law: Arnold (Irene) Groskreutz, Stan DeFreese and Ruben Groskreutz.

She is survived by her children: Linda Dreier of Dublin, OH, Ginger (Dennis) Kipp of North Mankato, MN, Dale (Lynn) Groskreutz of New Richland, MN, Neil (Jean) Groskreutz of Wells, MN, and Glenn (Janice) Groskreutz of Spring Branch, TX; 11 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren; siblings: Harold (Carol) Harper of Faribault, MN, Dorothy DeFreese of Richfield, MN, Helen (John) Herman of Wells, MN; sister-in-law, Ellen Groskreutz of Wells, MN; along with numerous nieces, nephews and their families.
