Evelyn Yonkovich Hardy Obituary

Evelyn Yonkovich Hardy, age 92, of The Legacy of Farmington, MN, formerly of Delavan, MN, died Friday, April 5, 2019 in Farmington. A memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be held Friday, April 12, 2019 at 11 AM at Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Blue Earth, MN. Visitation will be 9:30-11:00 AM at the church prior to the service. Interment will be at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Cemetery in Easton, MN. Memorials will be donated for research on Women's Heart Disease. Bruss-Heitner Funeral Home in Wells is assisting the family.

Evelyn was born January 9, 1927 in Easton, MN, the daughter of Raymond and Rose (Schimek) Paul. She met George Yonkovich at the Bass Lake Ballroom and they were married on April 13, 1948. They continued to enjoy dancing throughout their marriage. Together they raised 8 children and farmed for almost 40 years in the Delavan area. Evelyn loved music and learned to play piano by ear when her dad showed her Middle C on the piano. Among her other interests were reading, playing cards, socializing with her friends. She was also a talented embroiderer. Evelyn was known for her beautiful penmanship and wrote many special letters to her grandchildren. George preceded Evelyn in death in August, 1987. After his death, Evelyn reconnected with M.C. Hardy, a high school friend. They were married on June 28, 1993. The couple lived in Apple Valley and Lakeville, and in their new life together they enjoyed traveling and dancing. M.C. died in August, 2017. Evelyn maintained her connection to her rural background and liked sightseeing drives through the country, especially during harvest season. Evelyn's family was extremely important to her. She loved spending time with all of her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was also a loyal fan of the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Evelyn is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, George and M.C.; brothers, George, Donald, Dunnell, Cyril, and Bernard Paul; and sister, Margaret Tibodeau.

She is survived by her children: Anne (Bill) Jackson of Prior Lake; Mike (Rita Schimek) of Mankato, Rick (Roberta) of Shingle Springs, CA; Paula (Steve) Rue of Owatonna; Gary of Lakeville; Marlys (Reed) Houge of Flagstaff, AZ; Mark (Lori) of Cameron Park, CA; and Alan (Jessica) of Delavan; 8 grandchildren, and 12 great-grandchildren; siblings, Mary Murry of Delavan; Carolyn Willette of Easton; Ron Paul of Columbia Heights; and Gene Paul of Delavan.
